Oh hey, it's been a while.

Whilst reading this post, feel free to listen to my current theme song -

No, but really... I'm broke.

And for a plethora of reasons:

1. I love pizza + cannot cook = ordering out = money

2. Everyone is getting married and/or has cute children that I want to spoil. Spoiling and marriage costs money.

3. My rent is always due, man... like once a month. What's that about?

4. I have to turn on lights in my apartment much earlier in the winter. Stupid electricity bill.

5. My occupation is not: rocket scientist (rocket science? My god, I am a meme), engineer, doctor, yadda yadda yadda (I am okay with this, though)

6. I like to peruse the aisles of HomeGoods and shop on Society6

7. I lost in my Fantasy Football League and Superbowl square game (does that have an official name?)

8. I apparently need new tires.

9. I buy too many books when I get my "Spendable" bi-monthly check.

10. I just got back from a long weekend in Miami.

Okay, a few of these seem like they could be avoided in order to save money... and it's true...especially the last one.

But in all honesty, my trip to Miami was a necessary one in many ways.

Predominantly, the trip celebrated the final single moments of my bestest friend before she ties the knot with the love of her life and can never have fun again (JUST KIDDING, SERENA*).

The trip was also to visit another bestest friend who has been living sans home-friends in Miami for the last 10-ish years.

It also afforded me the opportunity to connect through interpretive dance (on the dance floor) with one of the other bridesmaids (we go way back, but I don't think our bond has ever been stronger than after dancing to Closer, by the Chainsmokers) Also, it is important to note here that Miami dance floors are serious.

Finally, the trip also served as a really great mental health break from the realities of life.

To feel warmth when you're supposed to be in 30 degree weather is amazing and an immediate mood-booster.

( Literally, this is what I did. )

So this is how I became extra broke...

Thursday: spent next-to-nothing because it was LADIES NIGHT in Fort Lauderdale. Which made me happy / annoyed at the fact that New Jersey doesn't really have a designated state-wide ladies' night. Next Senate race, I am looking into the candidates who would back this great movement

Friday: beach/home-cooked meal/ out ... so mostly free (and a lot of fun)

Saturday: Brunch /Stood outside Dash Miami / Coolest dinner ever / Out ... this was the most expensive day of the trip, but still not much at all in comparison to other trips. Also, when your food is served with gigantic props and dry-ice... you don't question the price.

** I now demand that all of my meals come with a side of dry ice

I mean, look at the pageantry

So, actually, now that I've typed this out... I really cannot blame Miami for being broke.

Instead, I will simply swap #10 on my Reasons Why I'm Broke List with: Necessary dry ice accompaniment with meals.

But it is nice to type about traveling again, albeit a short adventure.

Until my next big excursion, I will be back with more posts that are less whiney (an soon!)

Skål xx

* We were so fun and all picked fake names for our last night out... which we never used. Next time.
