If you recall many moons ago when I posted about Yolo Trip 2018, I gave the hint:

And I was hoping you'd arrive at the answer that my co-workers and I were off to Rome.

Which is precisely where we were going, from when we booked in March until a few weeks ago, when things changed.

You see, in that half-year span, the airline (which I usually support whole-heartedly) had been repeatedly adjusting the departure time of our flights to and from Rome. That made me slightly anxious, seeing that this is *cough* one of my least favorite airports *cough*

But I figured, hey! It's only five to ten minutes here and there. No biggie.

- Cut to September 17th-ish -

One of our travel squad had actually checked the content of the millionth email we'd received and all ignored at this point, figuring that the flight was probably being pushed or pulled in another 15 minute delay or so.

"It says our flight changed and now it says we're arriving a day later"

In normal circumstances, that wouldn't be too great to hear. No one wants to lose a day of precious vacation time.

But when your vacation is literally only 3.5 days and you lose a day....

Well, I wish I could lie and say I was as cool as a cucumber,

but as we all could have guessed, my annoyed-o-meter went through the roof.

Panic ensued.

A few days of extensive texting, lunch meetings, and refunded tickets later,

we found another decently inexpensive destination that would fit our very crunched schedule and offer the most fun for all those traveling:

Amsterdam!

(for a little less than $400!!)

Was it our first choice?

Obviously not.

We wanted to gorge ourselves in pasta and fine wines.

But the more I researched and looked past the stereotypical touristy things that Amsterdam is infamous for... I found a location with a lot to offer and a food following of its own!

Of course we plan on going to the Ann Frank House (how can you not)

and walking the Red Light District (it is historic, people!)

but I've got to say, what I am most excited about is our boat tour through the canals of Amsterdam with a tour group that I hope to promote once we've actually experienced it.

These guys have received nothing short of glorious reviews, so I can't wait to see if they live up to the hype.

T-minus 1 month!

Side note:

As I type this, I am watching the most Amsterdam-y movie I could think of:

...and therefore have two rolls of paper towels ready to sop up my eye drool.

but still would recommend this movie to anyone who has a soul.

10 0ut of 10

In conclusion,

it's going to take a lot more than a change of flight plans to throw off this squad of traveling co-workers from giving up on our long weekend.

So bring on Amsterdam!

Skål xx

(Danish for cheers, too!)
